Calling All Guys and Dolls!
ReDiscover will be putting on the Ritz 1920’s style! During this swanky affair guests will enjoy live entertainment from the Dave Stephens Band, cocktails and fabulous fare from Kansas City’s top restaurants. This hip soiree will have a Speakeasy flair taking guests back in time to the roaring 20’s as they sip and taste the best our city has to offer and grab some spiffy items at the silent and live auctions. Your support can help us end the stigma associated with behavioral health disorders and ensure that those affected are able to seek the help necessary to live healthy and full lives. Party with a purpose at Take a Bite Out of Stigma: A Culinary Experience!
Ralph and Shirley Fearon
This year is special as we honor our beloved founder Shirley Fearon and her husband Ralph. Shirley began ReDiscover's legacy of help, hope and healing in 1969 when she and a small group of volunteers established a community counseling center for families and children. It was their belief that the residents of Southern Jackson County should have the necessary behavioral health resources available in their community. In 1976, Shirley became the Executive Director/President and over the next 18 years, she guided the agency towards much needed expansion including additional locations and services. Under her tutelege ReDiscover received many awards and honors including being named a model grassroots agency by the White House Office of Consumer Affairs. After her retirement in 1994, and to this day, Shirley and Ralph remain steadfast supporters of ReDiscover. Both are members of ReDiscover's volunteer group - the Ambassadors of Hope and work to raise funds to support ReDiscover's clients in need.
